Possesses unusually large surface areas as observed from SEM photos. Fine white powders, soluble in aq. NaOH; soluble in hot water; insoluble in ethanol, benzene, acetone, and dilute acid.
Applications: Boron phosphate is used as a catalyst in organic synthesis; and additive in thermally stable dyestuff, clay, resin, petroleum, plastics, and rubber materials; and as a preservative and acidic purifier; and in fuel cell electrolyte. It is also a starting material for the production of NaBH4.
